Concept

An interface type in Go specifies a behavior or capability by declaring a set of method signatures. A type satisfies an interface implicitly by implementing those methods—there is no implements keyword or explicit declaration. This is Go's approach to duck typing ("if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck"). Interfaces are first-class types; they can be passed as arguments, returned from functions, and stored in variables.

Why It Exists

Interfaces enable clean software architecture through abstraction:

Polymorphism: Code operates seamlessly on any concrete type that fulfills interface methods.

Common Mistakes

Returning Typed Nil to Interface: Returning a nil concrete pointer inside an interface type variable prevents callers from performing simple err == nil checks.
